    Excellent and warm

This is such a warm coat. It's got tons of down in it and I feel that if I purchased this anywhere else this would be double the cost. It's got some very nice beefy zippers and very comfortable. The free bag to store it in was great for transport. I wish I bought this earlier.

    Wore mine for 10+ years

Not sure if this is the same jacket but looks very similar and has the same 850+ downfill and still very warm. Wore it every day in the winter and lots of winter camping trips. Couldn't have asked for a better jacket. However, the zipper is starting to go. Hoping this next jacket last's about the same time.

    Quality

Upgrading some worn out backpacking gear led me to look at Taiga. I own some of their down sleeping bags so wanted to try a jacket. This thing is extremely warm and the fit allows layering over a fleece or other mid weight jacket & can still fit a rain jacket over top if needed. This is the jacket you want if you ever spend an unplanned night on the mountain away from your tent. A very well designed jacket. I made a mistake in sizing on my order and received a call to confirm what I wanted. Once it was sorted out, the colour I wanted was not available. No worries though, I was assured they would build one to that colour ASAP and get it sent out. Received the order within one week. Great service.

TAIGA TANTALUS JACKET CANNOT BE MATCHED!

Recently, I was the fortunate recipient of a Taiga Tantalus down jacket… Yesterday I completed my "ski test". It was -20C with a stiff breeze blowing. In the AM, I wore a down jacket and down vest (made by others), froze, and was chased inside. I shed the jacket and vest in favour of my new Tantalus jacket, and skied the rest of the day toasty warm! I love the fit, bright colour and attention to small details. The hood fits nicely over my ski helmet, and the thick fleece-lined pockets and zip-up interior pockets are a nice touch. This will be my go-to ski jacket! Wish I bought one years ago! Thank you for such fine products (your Merino wool garments are first class too), and I love buying "Made in Canada" outdoor gear.

    Great jacket for cold conditions

I've owned this jacket for 15 years now. It's well made and is like putting on a heater, in the coldest weather (I've sat on mountain peaks, watching sunsets in as cold as -25C, in comfort). Even after 15 years, the zippers still work (plus, you have snaps, just in case), and the tough, ripstop nylon shell is in one piece. The waterproof shell is a bit bulky, but a dry shell is excellent insurance for a down jacket in coastal conditions. Best temperature range is probably -10C and lower. For warmer conditions, a lighter down jacket may be a better choice, but if it's cold, I can highly recommend the Tantalus Dry Down.
