Very impressive climbing jacket

Folks,

This is somethings to see...
This is a very impressive climbing jacket, excellent workmanship and tailoring. The material is sturdy and tough, you can feel that rubbing it between your fingers. The number of pockets is phenomenal. Inner mesh pockets have zippers, as well as an opening on top, so this inner pocket can act as a pouch; now that is brilliant. I bought size L, so I can wear the Taiga Challenger down jacket underneath in case of a real bad storm. It also has loops on the cuffs, so you can girth hitch your mitts/gloves and not loose in the storm. Pit zippers, helmet hood, sturdy front zipper with a double storm flap - great. BTW, do some research and look up a price of an equivalent jacket from major brands. We do have a clear winner here...

I use the jacket mainly for ice climbing, and some back country skiing. I wore the jacket, down jacket combination in temperatures around -30C.

Unbeatable

I've had two Alpinists over the last 12 years... I share the same opinion as the other reviewers in regard to the features of this piece. This is a waterproof shell that can't be beaten. It is burly and rugged. There isn't anything substandard about this jacket. When you put it on you cannot help but feel that this is a high quality outdoor jacket. I love it! My favourite features: the zippers are robust and easy to open. The pocket zippers can be opened for additional venting very easily. The pockets are massive. The storm flaps in the hood are ingenious! They can be pulled back to give a virtually unobstructed view when you want it. Or put in place to protect your face from blowing winds and rain.

3rd Taiga jacket

Just received my Alpinist jacket today. As always from Taiga, it’s a top-quality product with a perfect fit. You know the material is going to work perfectly, so I don’t think it matters I don’t have an extreme expedition story to share. This is my 3rd Taiga jacket in as many years. Not because I am replacing them, but rather I keep coming back to buy jackets for different activities. Keep making them in Canada, Taiga -- and I’ll keep buying them.

Outstanding!

After extensive research I decided on the Taiga Alpinist Jacket. Biggest factor was price, I cannot justify $800 for a coat I’m gonna beat on in the rough country I hike in. Quality is awesome! 100% waterproof! Even when I’m sweating on an ascent the coat seems to manage it well especially when utilizing the venting zips. No issues with zippers with thick winter gloves on. I have only put this coat to use on 5 days of hiking so far through thick brush to the open alpine and can’t be happier.

THE BEST MOUNTAINEERING JACKET...... EVER

I’ve spent years in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Aside from commercial fishing gear that does not breathe, this jacket will keep you dry. I’ve had other big-name Goretex jackets that have failed in fit and finish along with usability.
Don’t look any farther, 'cause this is THE mountain parka.
